Buzzing with excitement

Lately I’ve been making more of an effort to meet new people and foster new friendships. Since we moved to Germany it’s been a bit more difficult for me to make friends…not that it was super easy for me before. But in the last few months I’ve really been trying to make more of an effort to get out and talk to people and to make time for new friends.

I’ve met some amazing ladies lately who are super inspiring and I am excited to spend more time with them. I miss my “vintage” friends back in the states, but I’m slowly cultivating my own group of fabulous people here and hope to get them all together someday very soon for a Vintage Outing.

Yesterday I drove up to Frankfurt to meet Maria (@mariabordoysboudoir on Instagram). We’ve been “friends” on Instagram for quite some time now, but we’d never met in person. She is just as lovely in person as she is on her Instagram feed. We spent several hours talking and eating delicious food (and treats). I was super nervous, as I usually am when meeting fabulous vintage people. But her warm presence put me at ease immediately. I can’t wait to hang out with her again very soon.

Being able to dress up and spend time with amazing, inspiring and fabulous people really feeds my soul.

For our second stop on our “Weekend of Châteaus” we traveled about an hour south of Paris to the Château de Fontainebleau. I have been wanting to see this Palace since our first trip to France, and honestly I have no idea why we haven’t made it there before this. I suppose with so many wonderful things to see in France it’s hard to choose what to see.

Unfortunately several of the rooms were closed and they were doing a lot of reconstruction during our visit, which means there were so many more people going through the same rooms as us. We were not able to get as many photos and see as many things as we wanted, so I guess we’ll just have to go back at another time. I suppose that I can make that sacrifice for you 🙂

I recently received this dress to review from Miss Candyfloss, it’s part of their new Housewife Collection, and I am in love with it.

I’m a sucker for a shirtwaist dress, and this one has such a darling silhouette and details that I couldn’t pass it up. The fit is perfect and it’s a good weight, not to light not to heavy. I really like the little buttons on the sleeves and the slight peter pan collar give is that feminine touch.

I really love the combination of blue and yellow and I had planned to find some yellow shoes to go with this outfit, but alas I didn’t find what I was looking for before our trip. So the yellow flowers will have to be enough. The dress does come with a matching belt, but I liked the way a small white belt looks with it.

Dress Review: Miss Candyfloss – Kassandra-Lou dress

This past summer I was contacted by Miss Candyfloss about collaborating with them to review a few dresses. As I have a couple Miss Candyfloss pieces (Sheila Lee Playsuit and Odette Kat Dress), I jumped at the chance to work directly with the company. I sent them my measurements and a list of a few dresses I was interested in and they chose two lovely dresses for me.

The “Kassandra Lou” is the first dress. With accents of black/white/grey tartan, 3/4 sleeves and a mid-weight stretchy fabric, this dress is a perfect addition to my Autumn/Winter wardrobe. The fabric is a great medium weight as it can be worn on warmer days, or you can add a pair of tights or maybe a light petticoat for colder days.

I adore the pleating on the bust and the raised collar gives a nice accent. The detail on the sleeves is a lovely touch as well.

Sheila-Lee – Pantskirt/Playsuit by Miss Candyfloss

Our plans to attend a festival on Saturday were foiled by stormy and very windy weather, however it gave me a great opportunity to wear my new Pantskirt/Playsuit from Miss Candyfloss. Everyone knows that I do not hold any love for trousers. I rarely wear them and when I do, I very rarely document it. When I saw this outfit on the Miss Candyfloss website, I thought it might be a great alternative to wearing a traditional trouser. The weather on Saturday was, as my husband describes it, a “Skirt Alert” day. I’ve been know to accidentally “flash” innocent bystanders when a gust of wind decides to pick up my skirt. So I thought this playsuit might be a safer bet.

I love this playsuit (to be honest I really don’t know what to call it). It’s comfortable, adorable and there is no chance of me flashing anyone if the wind picks up. I love the front pockets (there are two small pockets on the bum as well), and it comes with the belt. Since it is all one piece, it is a bit difficult to get if off, so it’s not an outfit I would want to wear all day and, *ahem*, have to use the facilities, if you get my drift 🙂 But it is a great alternative to regular trousers and will give me an opportunity to change up my wardrobe a bit.
