An Autumn Day in Luxembourg

We spent the day in Luxembourg visiting the old city and having lunch with friends. Unfortunately it rained most of the day, so we didn’t get too many photos of the city. But it served as a great backdrop for this great OcTieBer outfit.

As some of you know, during the month of October a bunch of amazing sartorial friends get together and share our neckwear ensembles on a Facebook group. It’s a time of year that I look forward to for inspiration and guidance in menswear. I adore wearing menswear and have amassed quite a collection of neck ties and bow ties. I will post more of my OcTieBer outfits later in the month.

But for now, can we just talk about these amazing trousers!!!! As you know, I’m not a big fan of trousers and for the most part it’s because I’ve never found any that really truly fit me well and were comfortable. I’m much more comfortable in dresses and skirts. However, I took a chance on the new Doris Pant from Pinup Girl Clothing and I am pleasantly surprised at how much I love them. The fact that they come in plus size is, of course, a bonus for me. They are highwaisted, and have an elastic waistband in the back to ensure that there is no gapping. I did have to have them hemmed as they were quite long. I’m 5’5″ and they pooled around my ankles when I first tried them on, but I hemmed them up and now they are perfect. The pockets are a great size and placed really well. They are lined, which makes them a tad heavy, but they feel really nice and I think the heft helps them to lay right and move well.

Autumn Colors in Germany

I still can not believe that I live here! Every time we drive down the road, or visit a little village or just have a quintessential German experience, I have to pinch myself and remember that I actually live in this beautiful place. As a gal from San Diego, being able to experience the seasons on the East Coast of the U.S. was mind-blowing at times. But being here in Germany and experiencing the change from Summer to Autumn (and this is my favorite time of year) is truly magical.

This morning we visited the weekly Farmers Market in Kaiserslautern and had a wonderful time. We bought some cheese, bread, fruit, eggs, fresh flowers and had a couple tasty snacks. Then we took a drive to a neighboring village called Idar-Oberstein to photograph the Autumn colors along the way. We took our time, so everything was closed by the time we got there. But it’s so close that we’ll be able to go back and really explore the town.

I’ve been participating in OcTieBer, an annual challenge on Facebook with a bunch of friends where we wear some sort of neckwear everyday. Today I went all out in my Autumn colors and country style.
