Flowers of Karlsruhe

Botanical gardens are some of my favorite places to visit wherever I go. I love seeing how the flowers and plants are arranged and how the colors complement each other. This weekend we visited the Botanical Gardens in Karlsruhe. It was a bit rainy, but beautiful none the less.

The gardens are located near the Karlsruhe Palace and the entire complex is an absolute joy to wander around.

Flowers in Freinsheim

The Gentleman and I met a friend in Freinsheim for the village’s Altstadfest (Old Town Fest) this afternoon. This village is nestled in a beautiful part of the wine country here in Rhineland-Pfalz near Bad Dürkheim. It’s a very old and very charming little town with a Late Gothic town wall which includes towers and gates, that has been almost wholly preserved.

There were so many beautiful flowers around the town and in beautiful little gardens. Some were even growing on and out of the walls!!

Stripes and Flowers

I am so happy that the weather is getting nicer here and I can spend more time outside. As you can see our tree is on the verge of blooming and when it does it is spectacular! As you can also see Harriet and Fiona (my crazy dogs) are enjoying the weather as well.

I recently purchased this dress from eShakti and I really like it. I’m not crazy about the fabric though, the cotton poplin tends to wrinkle something fierce, but the embroidery on the top of this dress was too beautiful to pass up. I added a teal belt (from my Milan dress) and these great new-to-me Chelsea Crew shoes I purchased from a lovely lady in England from one of my FB Fashion groups. I’m not sure if the skirt is full enough to wear a petticoat under, but I will try it.

Rawlings Conservatory

At the tail end of Winter, we decided to visit the Rawlings Conservatory to get a shot of Spring into our system. This winter was particularity long and cold and seeing beautiful flowers really perked us up.

This is the second oldest conservatory in America. It opened in 1888 and it really is a stunning building. It has 5 different greenhouses and they host several wonderful events throughout the year. Last year they hosted a Seersucker and Sundress Garden Party, I hope they do this again as I would love to attend.
