Halloween, All Hallows Eve, or Samhain to us Witches. It’s my favorite holiday during my favorite season.
I have so many wonderful Halloween memories as a child, dressing up and going trick-or-treating with my cousin. My mom would usually make my costumes, and there was something so special about that. Clearly dressing up has always been a part of my life.
As an adult, when I was able to decorate my house and front yard with headstones, poison jars, flying bats, and Victorian-era looking candelabras it would fill me with at joy I can’t explain. I would throw a big Halloween party every year with all my friends and I loved to see how inventive and creative they got with their costumes.
My creativity was further ignited when deciding on food options for my Halloween parties. Opting for things that I could craftily adapt the name to something scary, spooky, or macabre. As I got older and my Halloween decorations became more sophisticated, I tended to allow them to linger longer and longer until one day, I decided that I was just not going to stash them all way anymore.
Now I keep a lot of my favorite Halloween décor out year-round. Of course, we’ve moved quite a bit over the last 15 years, and sadly a few cherished items have broken or are no longer usable. Also, living in Germany, where Halloween isn’t really celebrated much, made it more difficult to find new and exciting décor.
I think it’s time to start adding more items to my Halloween decor so anytime I need to gather inspiration, I turn to Pinterest to stimulate my imagination. I’d like to share some of the inspiration I’ve collected on my Vintage Halloween Pinterest Board.

Not only do I love decor, of course there is the vintage fashion aspect of all things spooky. I love finding vintage images of accessories and garments with spiderwebs and spooky images on them. It’s a reminder that love for Halloween and its imagery runs long and deep.
Finding these these images of antique and vintage costumes was a treat. I love the nature aspect of some of these costumes, they are incredibly inspiring for future Halloween parties.
However you are celebrating this year, I hope you enjoy a safe and happy Halloween. I hope that next year we’ll all be able to come together again and celebrate collectively and inspire one another with our emsembles.
