Yuletide Season in Europe

I love this time of year! From the tastes and smells – cinnamon, orange, clove and nutmeg, to the sparkling lights and all around festive atmosphere, the Yuletide Season lends itself to wonderful events and special time with friends and family.
There are so many Yuletide events here in Germany and we have plans to visit several Weihnachtsmarkte in the next few weeks, but this weekend really kicked off our Yuletide festivities.
We met some friends in Metz, France (only about 90 minutes away) in the morning for the Metz Flea Market, then we all went to the Metz city center for their Marchés de Noël and a special exhibition of ice sculptures made into Disney characters. Spending time with friends, flea market shopping, holiday markets and Disney, honestly the day could not have been more perfect!

Spending time with Laurence & Sylvain from France is always wonderful. It’s great to be with another couple who enjoys vintage style as much as we do. They have an amazing blog called Lost in the 50’s ~ I hope you’ll check it out!
I was so excited when Laurence told me about this exhibit. Being a huge Disney fan, I was so pleased that we could experience this so close us. We’ll be going to Disneyland Paris for my 40th birthday in March and again for Dapper Day in April, so this really helped to ramp up my Disney excitement.
I was so impressed with the creativity of these ice sculptures. The placement of the lighting and how some parts are clear and others are frosted was amazing. It was 21°F (-6° C) in the venue, it was a good thing we were already bundled up. It felt like a tropical beach when we finally got out of there 🙂
Enjoy the tour!

8th Dec 2015 - 2:01 amYour outfit is so beautiful – that coat! *Swoon* I’m torn between jealousy of the beauty and magic of a winter Christmas and the casual warm relaxation of the Aussie one, but you certainly make your option look good!
