4th Dec 2025 - 7:09 pmGood Morning Christine:
I am a child of the late 40’s as an only child I spent Saturdays and Wednesdays going to Beauty salon’s with my Mother and Grandmother on Wednesdays for many years due to no one being able to watch me at home. This brought something that has stayed with me all my life to this day. When I married my first wife back in 1968 we made a deal that if I wanted her to keep her long hair I would set it for her. This led to my going to beauty school, due to a move I was unable to finish but what I learned was enough.
Rollers I have tried every kind of rollers available including the spung rollers you use. I think they take to long to dry ok if you are going to sleep on them. I prefer for a quick set I use Velcro Rollers my hair is over my shoulders 1/2″ pink using my favorite setting gel TRESeeme gives me a nice set that will depending on my activities three days, for a better set I use Magnetic rollers same as the beauty salon and Dippity Doo setting gel the original setting gel of the fifties. I like to set my hair during the day when possible and let it dry while working around the house or outside during the summer Or after dinner and either way I sleep on them, taking them down in the morning I have beautiful long lasting curls.
So many times when I am out and about after doing my hair I get complements I am asked where I get it done my answer is I am old school and do it myself in Rollers.
Up until a few years ago for 14 years I went to the salon like my mother did every other and got it shampooed and set when I moved to Las Vegas I found no salons that do wet sets anymore.
Later this month I have an appointment first time in a year for a Permanent, cut long hair shorter and color. JC Penney’s.
